ILAVIE Espresso Machine K1 Pro (EM3111A)

A: For the initial use, as the machine is new and the boiler is empty, it's advised to fill it with water without coffee powder and boil it several times to clean the machine. This process not only prevents the coffee temperature from being too low but also enhances the taste of your coffee.

A: This machine utilizes a pressurized basket for single or double cups, so it's normal for some water to remain on the ground surface after brewing. To minimize this:

1. Adjust the grinding size using our provided recommendations.

2. Ensure you use enough coffee grounds: 12-13 grams for a single cup and 19-21 grams for a double cup..

3. Tamp the coffee grounds firmly to create a flat, horizontal surface. With practice and adjustments, you'll unlock the secret to brewing the perfect espresso with your machine..

A: To enhance crema production, consider the following:

1. Adjust the grinding size of the coffee beans. If too coarse, crema and flavor may be compromised.

2. Ensure proper tamping of the coffee grounds with adequate force, promoting more crema and a richer flavor.

3. Use the recommended amount of coffee powder: 13 grams for a single cup filter basket and 19-21 grams for a double one.

A: Follow these steps for optimal results:

1. Use whole full-fat pure milk with a fat content of about 3.5% to 4.2%. Avoid low-fat or skim milk as they won't produce milk bubbles.

2. Ensure the milk is refrigerated before frothing.

3. Before frothing, release water from the steam wand to prevent cool water from mixing with the milk, which can make it watery.

4. Activate the "STEAM" function and wait until steam is strong and consistent without water dripping from the steam wand.

5. Froth the milk: Keep the steam wand slightly submerged in the milk to create smooth, tiny bubbles. Frothing is complete when the milk expands to about twice its original volume.

6. Heat the milk by submerging the steam wand deeper into the milk until the pitcher's surface feels hot to the touch.

7. Always froth the milk before heating it, and practice to perfect your technique for ideal milk froth with our machine!

A: We suggest using 12 grams of coffee grounds for a single cup basket, and 19-21 grams for a double cup basket.
A: When preparing two cappuccinos, you'll encounter an "E-2" error after the first espresso due to the boiler temperature being too high for immediate brewing. Here's why and how to expedite the process:

• Cause of the issue: After brewing espresso, the boiler temperature reaches 94-100°C, while frothing milk raises it to 130-140°C. Attempting another espresso immediately after completes the first cappuccino will trigger the error, as the boiler needs to cool to 94-100°C for brewing.

• Shortening recovery time: You can expedite the process by releasing hot water using the machine's hot water function through the steam wand. This helps the boiler cool down faster, allowing for quicker preparation of the next cappuccino. Give it a try to minimize wait times.
A: Turn off the knob located on the side of the machine.
A: "E-2" indicates overheating protection. To safeguard coffee quality and the machine, brewing function is disabled when "E-2" appears. To resume brewing immediately, release some hot steam or hot water from the steam wand, or turn off the machine to cool it down. Once cooled, you can resume extracting quality coffee.

A: 1. If the grind is too fine, adjust the grinding scale to 3 or higher, depending on your grinder's settings.

2. Increase the amount of coffee powder used and tamp it flat, ensuring the surface of the coffee powder is level with the filter.
A: Fill the water tank and milk reservoir with water. After preheating finishes, press and hold the large cappuccino button for 3 seconds. Repeat this process for 2-3 cycles to pump water and clean the inner pipes before use.
A: Yes, you can. Simply add milk to the milk reservoir, wait for preheating to finish, then press and hold the cappuccino button for 3 seconds. Only milk will be dispensed.
A: Use cold whole milk stored in the refrigerator for optimal results.

A: 1. Remove the red rubber plug from the bottom of the water tank.

2. Follow the manual's initial use instructions.

3. Disarm the water shortage warning as per the provided instructions to resume coffee-making.
A: Insufficient extraction occurs when coffee isn't ground finely enough (try levels 7-15). Ensure the filter has ample coffee grounds and tamp firmly for optimal results.
A: If your coffee isn't hot to your liking, try preheating your cups with hot water and running the machine through several hot water cycles before brewing.
A: 1. Ensure the metal funnel is properly positioned during steaming. Before frothing, release condensate water and steam for at least 10 seconds.

2. Use cold whole milk stored in the refrigerator for best results.
A: Clumping may occur if coffee beans or powder block the burr grinder. Regularly clean the interior burr using the included brush to prevent this issue.
A: Use 10-13 grams of coffee grounds for a single cup basket, and 17-19 grams for a double cup basket.

A: Air pressure inside the machine initially may cause water output errors. It's advised to measure the second cup of water for accuracy.
A: Ensure the top cover is securely closed before using the machine.
